Sorry...

Sorry its been so long since I've updated this blog.  Time just got away from me.  I've been really thinking about my work a lot here lately, and I think something's missing.  I don't know what it is, but its starting to feel repetitive.  I like nights when I sketch with friends...its fun to just sit down and draw on paper.  There's something in that drawing as well, there's energy or something, and when I paint digitally it sometimes can disappear.  There's texture too.  From the materials I use to draw, from the paper, from my hand rubbing the graphite or ink.  Thats missing in my digital work as well.

Well, I'm tired of it not being there.  Its time to shake things up and try something new before I get stale.  I have fun drawing with sharpies, and cutting paper, and taping things together.  So why not have a little of that in my art?  How to arrive somewhere new has been tough.  I'm still looking....haven't found it yet.  But here are some experiments anyway.  All are sketches from my sketchbook, colored either by hand or by photoshop.  It's a start.

Cory, this work is really fantastic. These pieces remind me of a time when I would sit down with my sketchbook and just draw and create for hours totally losing track of the time. No art director, no time constraint, just pure fun. Wow, I'm really inspired by this work and I thank you for posting it. Just downright fun. Especially the last few pieces, the castle, night scene, etc. Really great and just make me smile because I can tell you had fun and were most likely smiling when you created them. Awesome, can't wait to see more.

This is a wonderful collection, I am really enjoying your return to the physical realm. I feel the same since going all digital... missing the bite of the pencil, the smells, the flexibility to flip the page around every which way. You've inspired me, sir!

Ive had the same sort of feeling in the past with digital art. It really turned me off, loosing that spirit-whatever-it-is connection. Its really inspiring to see you realize take up that challenge.

And proceed so beautifully.

As always, Cory, you're art (and thoughts) inspire me deeply! Thanks for sharing. =)

I hope you and your family are doing awesome. =)

I hear you on that, it is fun to play! I love your work, I am using it as inspiration for the digital painting class I am auditing. My teacher works at Wildstar and recommended you. I'm so glad he did, you rock!!!!
